WAESI Fellowship
The WAESI Fellowship is a cultural exchange program designed to support scholars working at the intersection of water, the environment, and community engagement. The fellowship enables participants to collaborate across borders by teaching, conducting research, or engaging with local communities to address pressing ecological and social challenges related to water. Through immersive experiences and interdisciplinary inquiry, WAESI Fellows contribute to a global dialogue on sustainable water systems and environmental stewardship. Students, early career professionals, senior experts, and subject specialists from all backgrounds are encouraged to submit a proposal and apply.
Application Process
Apply
Send an email to luke@waesi.org with the Subject line "WAESI Fellowship Application." Include a cover letter, a CV/resume, and a letter of recommendation. A letter of invitation from a host institution is also encouraged if your proposed project is in a single location
Interview
After submitting an email of application, we will set up an online meeting with you if you are selected for interview.
Selection
Applicants are selected for fellowship based on their application materials and their interview. Although selection is subject to opinions of the board, an applicant with strong ties to aquatic environmental science will receive prioritized consideration.
Logistics and Funding
The WAESI Fellowship is not just an honorary recognition; it is a proactive fellowship aimed at addressing the needs of both the community and the fellow.
The primary service WAESI offers the fellow is logistical planning of the fellowship, both domestically and internationally. We will use our extensive connections in aquatic environmental science but are also committed to develop new connections for your project and plan your travel.
Since funding is entirely dependent upon donor gifts, applicants who have acquired external funding may be more competitive in the selection process. Funding is not standardized but given on a case-by-case basis.
